Blue Rewards Health Screening Activity Timeframe Extended
CareFirst’s Blue Rewards program incentivizes members to complete a health screening with their primary care provider (PCP) or at a CVS MinuteClinic within 120 days of their effective date. As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, many members are unable to complete this activity due to restrictions on PCP office visits, adherence with their state’s stay-at-home order or personal preference. To provide members adequate time to complete this step, CareFirst is extending the time period to complete the health screening by an additional 90 days.
This extension now applies to members with effective dates from November 2019 through July 2020 and new hires (whose coverage became effective after their employer group’s renewal date).
Please note, new hires will be provided an additional 90 days or the balance of their benefit year. CareFirst cannot extend the Blue Rewards submission period beyond a group’s renewal date.

- In this instance, an extension will be provided: Member’s original effective date was July 1, 2020 and the end date to complete their health screening activity was October 29, 2020. This member is automatically provided an additional 90 days, until January 27, 2021, to complete their health screening.
- In this instance, an extension will not be provided: Member’s original effective date was October 21, 2019 and the end date to complete their health screening activity was January 19, 2020. This member will not be provided an extension.

CareFirst is extending the time period for impacted members to complete the health screening activity by 90 days. We are closely monitoring the situation and will reevaluate every 30 days. If we provide additional extensions, we will let you know.
This impacts members who are enrolled in a health plan with an effective date between November 2019 and July 2020. Additionally, if you were newly hired by your employer you may also have been provided an extension. To verify whether you are eligible for the extension, log in to your Sharecare account. Once logged in, select Achieve, then Rewards, then Blue Rewards Incentive Program and check the last day to complete your health screening.
If your time period to complete your health screening activity was prior to March 1, 2020, you will not see an extension. Prior to this date, providers offered appointments during their normal business hours so there should not have been an impact to members who wished to complete this incentive activity.
No, the other incentive activities (taking the RealAge test, providing e-consent, and selecting a PCP) are not impacted by coronavirus because they can be completed via your laptop, desktop, or smartphone.
You have until the end of your benefit period to use your reward, plus an additional 90 days to reimburse yourself for any eligible expense that occurred within that benefit period.
