Keeping You in The Know
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has granted emergency use authorization for two COVID-19 vaccines: Pfizer/BioNTech and Moderna. At first, the vaccines will be available to people with the highest risk for COVID-19 disease and complications, like healthcare workers and nursing home residents.
As larger quantities of the vaccines become available in the coming weeks and months, each state will communicate how and where the vaccines are available and when you can receive one.
CareFirst members will pay $0 for any authorized vaccine, regardless of manufacturer.
Please note, there has been an increase in COVID-19 related scams promising early access to the vaccine in exchange for money or personal information. These tips can help you recognize, avoid and report COVID-19 vaccine scams.
Together We Are Better
Like all vaccines, the COVID-19 vaccine is an important solution to ending the spread of disease. As a greater number of people are vaccinated and become immune to the virus, the spread of COVID declines, which protects our entire community.
Until there is a widely available vaccine, we can all work together to reduce the spread of the disease by:
- Wearing a mask
- Practicing social distancing
- Washing our hands
- Getting a flu shot
