From Screenings to Support: CareFirst Arena Powers Community Health in D.C.

CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield (CareFirst) believes that real health starts in neighborhoods, schools and gathering spaces—not just hospitals or clinics. That’s why we invest in CareFirst Arena, a hub for connection, resources and opportunities that drive lasting change in Washington, D.C.

Our recent Community Health Fair at CareFirst Arena marked the beginning of ongoing efforts to bring essential health services directly to our neighborhoods. We work alongside local organizations and leaders to address root causes of health challenges like food insecurity, workforce development and maternal health.

“Health is personal, but it also connects us all. By coming together with our community partners, we’re meeting people where they are and creating experiences that inspire healthier living. Real change happens when communities feel supported, informed and united around their well-being.”

Ricardo Johnson, Executive Vice President of Strategic Growth, CareFirst

With more than 25 community partners on-site, we offered vital services—flu vaccines, biometric screenings, fresh groceries and hot meals—all free of charge and open to everyone, no CareFirst insurance required.

Looking Ahead: Our Commitment to Washington, D.C.

This health fair is just the beginning. CareFirst will continue hosting events at CareFirst Arena to connect with our D.C. community and deliver resources that make a real difference. As we deepen relationships with local organizations, we’ll keep listening, adapting and expanding our programming to meet evolving needs.

We look forward to welcoming our community at future events—because together, we can build a healthier, stronger D.C.
