CareFirst launches Website Translation Pilot
At CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield (CareFirst), transformation means removing barriers to care and creating a healthcare experience that works for everyone. Our mission is clear: improve access, make care more affordable and empower people to live healthier lives. One way we’re delivering on that promise is through our new Website Translation Pilot.
Why this matters
Healthcare can feel complicated—especially when language becomes a barrier. Many members speak Spanish at home and often need help translating important information. Today, more than 4% of calls to our Member Services are in Spanish, and some members rely on interpreters for extended periods each month. This slows down access to care and adds unnecessary stress.
By offering Spanish-language content directly on our websites, we make it easier for members to:
- Get answers faster
- Understand coverage clearly
- Feel confident making healthcare decisions
This initiative also supports federal language access guidance, ensuring members receive information in the most common languages used in their state. Most importantly, it reflects our commitment to fairness, accessibility and quality care for all.
Spanish translation is now available on these sites:
Users can easily switch between English and Spanish using the language selector at the top of each webpage.
Connecting to our mission
To CareFirst, this pilot is more than a technology upgrade—it’s a step toward everyone having the equal opportunity to be healthy. By reducing language barriers, we help members access the care they need without delay. That means fewer missed opportunities for preventive care, better understanding of benefits and more confidence in managing health—empowering healthier lives.
