This thoughtful solution is included in every CareFirst Individual and Family medical plan beginning January 1, 2026, which can be purchased through a Marketplace or Exchange or directly from CareFirst.

Unlike traditional employee assistance programs (EAPs), which are often reserved for people covered by group or employer-based insurance, CareFirst’s MAP ensures that those who purchase coverage independently can access a full spectrum of services without additional costs** or barriers.

The way CareFirst’s MAP works is simple: The program provides early, confidential home and work life support—24/7, 365 days a year—to help prevent more serious or costly care down the road. Members and their loved ones can call a dedicated phone number or access the program online to be connected to a wide range of resources to address whatever life or work throws at them.

Services include:

  1. Emotional Support: Unlimited access to licensed clinicians, 24/7 counseling and online chat for issues like anxiety, depression, grief and relationship challenges.
  2. Addiction Support: Help with substance use, quitting smoking and gambling—especially important as online betting grows.
  3. Work-Life Services: Advice on parenting, eldercare, relocation, legal and financial matters and more.
  4. Career Coaching: Tools to build resilience, avoid burnout and plan for retirement.
