CareFirst’s vision is to drive the transformation of healthcare with and for our members and communities.

To realize our vision, we address SDOH by investing in economic development, educational opportunities, community-based health partners, improving access to care, and advocating for positive systemic and environmental change.

Through a wide range of strategic investments, CareFirst will:

• Expand access to economic development and educational opportunities. This will improve social support, decrease barriers to care and address environmental conditions that shape health.
• Strengthen our relationship with community-based health partners. Being better aligned will help us meet the continuum of social needs. This means helping change unhealthy habits and encouraging healthy behaviors to lower risk factors.
• Increase access to high-quality and affordable healthcare. Ensuring dignity, respect and cultural competency as people access evidence-based care.
• Achieve policy, systems and environmental change through advocacy. This will create conditions that support the health of vulnerable people and their communities.
• Improve how we collect and use demographic data in healthcare. Having consistent, correct data can help us provide the right services to the right community at the right time.
