Bundling Joy For Baltimore's Babies
CareFirst associates volunteered at a local diaper bank

In the U.S., one in three families don't have enough diapers to keep their child clean and healthy. ShareBaby – Baltimore’s first diaper bank – is trying to change that.
Founded in 2014 by three local mothers, ShareBaby got its start by soliciting donations of new and gently used baby items for children and families in need. Today, its aim is to distribute two million essential items – including disposable diapers – to Baltimore-area families.
Families living at or below the poverty line rely on diaper banks like ShareBaby to address this need. With a monthly price tag of $70 to $80 and no specific funding allocated through federal or state safety-net programs, the cost of disposable diapers can add up.
ShareBaby relies on its vast network of volunteers, including a group of more than 20 CareFirst associates who recently spent a morning in May packing hundreds of diapers and sorting through donations of children’s clothing. Learn more about how you can get involved with ShareBaby.
