CareFirst’s Short-Term Investments support community organizations dedicated to addressing the root causes of health disparities in the Mid-Atlantic.

By providing this funding, CareFirst supports:

The Community Health & Social Impact (CHSI) team leads CareFirst charitable giving requests. CareFirst makes these investments to advance CHSI areas of focus.

The short-term investments that CareFirst makes are typically less than one year and include:

Sponsorships

As an active community member, CareFirst supports community engagement from our strategic partners related to events and short-term programs.

  • Branding Sponsorships affirm our relationships with businesses in the Mid-Atlantic. At the same time, they strengthen connections with our members and communities. Sponsorships include the Baltimore Running Festival, DC Bike Ride, the Washington Nationals and Baltimore Ravens.
  • CHSI Sponsorships support community non-profit organizations that align with our focus areas.
Unity Health Care

Unity Health Care meets the needs of communities through a network of over 20 traditional and non-traditional health sites. CareFirst funding supports the cost of the Intelligent Retinal Imagery System (IRIS). The system captures retinal images to help diagnose early-onset diabetes. Funds also support other diabetes programs like the A1c testing campaign.

Annual investments in business associations, civic groups and consortiums that drive collective impact to improve access and affordability.

Prince George’s County Chamber of Commerce

Prince George’s County Chamber of Commerce advances business interests and helps create wealth for a vibrant Prince George’s County. CareFirst is an active member of the Chamber, with executive leadership serving in the Chamber’s leadership.
