Investing in
Equity
We believe that the best healthcare solutions come from listening to our communities. By investing in equity, we address immediate needs and support long-term well-being, helping everyone to live their healthiest life.
As a dual-headquartered company with deep commitments around our headquarters, our presence goes beyond our workspaces and into the communities we serve.
Strengthening Our Community Presence
After a year of hosting our Workforce Development Program out of Coppin State University, we celebrated opening a community and workforce development training center at The Village at Mondawmin.

Engagement
By collaborating, including everyone and giving our time and resources, we strive to help everyone live healthier lives, whether they're CareFirst members or not.
Our 6th Annual Week of Equity & Action (WEA) featured a panel on Social Drivers of Health Impact on Equity, workshops on various health topics, and the introduction of “WEA 365” for year-round sessions. Nearly 500 volunteers contributed over 1,000 service hours across the mid-Atlantic region.
Week of Equity & Action
CareFirst Difference Makers dedicated over 89,000 hours to service- and skills-based volunteer opportunities this year. While we sponsor many programs, most of these hours came from the passions and hearts of individuals serving in the places that matter most to them.

Innovative
Solutions
From integrating mental health care into primary care to expanding access through community engagement, our efforts are creating positive change. Together, we're building a healthier future, one innovative solution at a time.
This year, we expanded our partnership with Scene Health to include their MedEngagement program for our Medicaid plan, which uses video and daily virtual care to ensure proper medication use. We also partnered with Fabric Health to place bilingual care coordinators in laundromats across Prince George’s and Montgomery Counties, making high-quality benefits and services more accessible.
Meeting People Where They Are
CareFirst and Children’s National Hospital have partnered to address health disparities and SDOH within primary care settings. Providers receive training in mental health care, including depression, suicide prevention, anxiety, ADHD and eating disorders, aiming to provide timely interventions and enhance the quality of care for children, ultimately building healthier childhoods and communities.
