CareFirst Monitoring Online Scam Affecting Other Blue Plan
CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield (CareFirst) has been made aware of potentially fraudulent consumer outreach being conducted in another state in the name of a Blue Cross Blue Shield plan. Reports indicate that the scam involves use of fake website listings, fake addresses and unauthorized usage of Blue Cross Blue Shield logos as part of efforts to collect personal information and unauthorized attempts to sell insurance plans. While CareFirst is not aware of any similar activity at this time, consumers should only rely on CareFirst’s official website, www.carefirst.com, for information about the company’s products and services.
