CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield’s WellBeing℠ App Levels Up Traditional Wellness Trackers, Taking Holistic Approach to Health
CareFirst WellBeing offers a comprehensive wellbeing program that helps the whole person, from heart health to emotional resilience strategies to financial planning
Baltimore, MD – CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield (CareFirst) announced the launch of CareFirst WellBeing, an app that provides wellness guidance and tracking and seamlessly integrates motivational and easy-to-use programs to improve members' health. CareFirst's new well-being app offers unique content that can be tailored to members' needs and can link to other health monitoring data, devices and programs such as Noom and Fitbit.
"Health and wellness are intensely personal. They are a product of everything—large and small—that goes into making and living life. It's constantly evolving. And it's different for everyone. At CareFirst, we are empowering employers and their employees to take their health and culture of health into their own hands," said Vice President, Chief Marketing Officer Mack McGee of CareFirst.
CareFirst has invested in a growing portfolio of easy-to-navigate, member-centric solutions. CareFirst WellBeing provides members with a single-entry point to connect with all the solutions, tools and programs available, making it easier to manage every aspect of wellbeing—from physical fitness and family relationships to stress management and financial health.
The app includes resources, such as personal health coaching powered by Asset Health and on-demand online therapy and emotional wellness services offered by 7 Cups. On April 3, 2023, CareFirst launched a partnership with the award-winning Noom application to integrate two new preventive health solutions: Noom Weight and Noom's Diabetes Prevention Program into the WellBeing app, bringing members Noom's unique psychology-based approach to creating healthy habits.
CareFirst WellBeing programs take a holistic view of wellness and include nutrition support, fitness goals, tobacco cessation, disease management, diabetes prevention and more. The app's 'refresh and recharge' section offers solutions to improve sleep habits, increase emotional resiliency and decrease stress. The 'beyond health' offerings prioritize financial wellness and the connection to occupational wellbeing, mental health support, disease-specific management programs and family health offerings.
"The vision was to build a digital platform that features a benefits hub where our members can connect to all of our programs, regardless of vendor, solution or digital access channel," said McGee. "Evidence shows there's power in proactive health technology and customizable and empowerment-focused solutions have been proven to help people improve their lives. With CareFirst WellBeing, we have a unique opportunity to become a proactive provider of curated wellness solutions that help members better navigate their whole health."
