CareFirst Ranks No. 1 in Experience Among Health Insurers Nationwide
Top scores in customer, brand and total experience indexes underscores CareFirst’s trusted role in delivering healthcare
BALTIMORE AND WASHINGTON — CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield (CareFirst), one of the largest not-for-profit healthcare organizations in the country, ranked first among 16 U.S. health insurers for customer, brand and total experience in Forrester’s 2025 Indexes, according to the report, Forrester’s U.S. Health Insurers Total Experience Score Rankings, 2025.
CareFirst believes this recognition highlights its strength as a trusted brand, earning the confidence of many by making healthcare accessible, approachable and personal. CareFirst has earned confidence among members and even non-members through clear communication, reliable service and its deep commitment to the communities it serves.
“It’s powerful to see this recognition tied to how people actually experience our brand,” said Mack McGee, Chief Marketing Officer, CareFirst. “Being ranked number one for customer, brand and total experience reinforces that when we lead with clarity, care and consistency, people notice—and trust us. That trust is something teams across our organization work hard to earn every day.”
CareFirst’s scores also placed it in the coveted “leading” quadrant of the Total Experience Score Growth Grid for U.S. health insurers, which measures how well companies attract new customers and serve existing ones. Only four health insurers earned that distinction in the 2025 U.S. health insurers growth grid.
McGee added, “healthcare isn’t just evolving—it’s being reimagined around the needs of real people. This recognition affirms that the way forward isn’t more complexity, it’s more humanity. We’re proud to lead that shift, and we’ll keep pushing for experiences that feel more personal, connected and equitable.”
CareFirst serves 3.5 million individuals in Maryland, Washington, D.C. and Northern Virginia.
