CareFirst Warns Members About Potential Phone Scam

Baltimore, MD - CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield (CareFirst) has recently received numerous reports of CareFirst members receiving calls from individuals claiming to be CareFirst employees and seeking personal information such as Social Security number. These calls may appear to come from a CareFirst telephone number.

These phone calls are not legitimate and are not coming from CareFirst. CareFirst does not typically initiate or make unsolicited calls requesting Social Security numbers. If you have any doubt about any call claiming to be from CareFirst, please ask for the caller’s name and phone number and offer to call the person back. You can also call the Customer Service number on the back of your ID card.
