CareFirst Names Angela Celestin New Chief Human Resources Officer

Celestin joined the company Sept. 30

Baltimore — CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield (CareFirst) has hired a human resources executive with nearly 30 years of experience with some of the most recognizable brands in corporate America to help guide the transformation of the company and its workforce.

Angela Celestin joined the company Sept. 30 as Executive Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer, following a nationwide search. As CareFirst’s top human resources executive, Celestin will be responsible for reshaping the employee experience, enhancing the company’s leadership development programs and leading a strategy to align CareFirst’s workforce with the company’s ambitious short- and long-term goals. 

Prior to joining CareFirst, Celestin spent nearly two years as Executive Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer for National Money Mart Co.’s U.S. and Canadian retail and online lending businesses. She also oversaw the company’s customer contact center in Malvern, Pa.

Before that, Celestin managed human resources at PepsiCo from 1992 to 1995, and she spent 20 years as a top human resources officer for financial services companies Citi and Baltimore-based OneMain Financial from 1997 to 2017.

Celestin earned a bachelor’s degree in Industrial and Labor Relations (Human Resources) from Cornell University, and she holds an Executive Certificate in HR Leadership from Cornell.
