Ja'Ron Bridges Biography

Ja’Ron Bridges is the Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield (CareFirst), one of the nation’s largest not-for-profit healthcare organizations. In this role, Ja’Ron leads a team dedicated to optimizing financial processes, enhancing stability and positioning CareFirst for future growth and innovation. Ja’Ron drives CareFirst’s work in financial management, strategic planning and operational excellence as the organization works to advance affordable, accessible and high-quality healthcare while navigating a consistently evolving healthcare industry.
Prior to joining CareFirst, Ja’Ron served as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for Highmark Health plans where he was responsible for all aspects of financial management and performance management across Highmark’s broad portfolio of products and services. This included activities supporting Highmark’s commercial, government and Third Party Administrator (TPA) business segments, driving discipline around enterprise administrative costs, implementing a disciplined approach to financial performance management and a prioritized focus on strategic resource allocation to achieve long-term strategy while driving near term business performance.
Ja’Ron has previously served as the Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Gateway Health, a managed care organization, where he led the company’s Financial Planning & Analysis, Accounting, Actuarial, Procurement and Facilities departments. Before that, Ja’Ron served as the Vice President of Financial Strategy, Planning and Analysis at Highmark Health, where he was responsible for developing advanced economic modeling across the organization. Ja’Ron also spent nearly a decade with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, serving in increasingly important roles, from Finance Manager to Director of Financial Planning and Performance Management.
Ja’Ron is passionate about community service, a commitment CareFirst shares through its not-for-profit mission. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for Bridgeway Capital, a social impact investor supporting businesses and entrepreneurs in underserved communities to advance equitable economic growth. Previously, Ja’Ron volunteered his time and experience as a Board Member for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Pittsburgh and the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. Ja’Ron earned a B.S. in Finance from Oakland University.
